Enjoying VIKK in Korppoo

What is VIKK made of? Open homes, farms & boutiques and eager enthusiasts wanting to invite visitors to our archipelago also wintertime. So every first Saturday and Sunday of the month there are all kind of happenings around the main island of Korppoo. We took a look at one of them - on March you are wellcome to join us painting Easter eggs with a traditional beewax paints.

VIKK is for Weekend in Creative Korppoo

VIKK on meidän kekseliään Pro Korppoo -yhdistyksemme uusin voimainponnistus, joka lähti hyvistä ideoista kehittymään kerran kuussa pidettäväksi touhuviikonlopuksi. Avaamme koteja, maatiloja ja yrityksiä, jotka muuten nukkuvat usein talviunta näyttääksemme, miten hauska on talvikausi saaristossa. Muistan itse ennen tänne muuttamista ajatelleeni, että talvet, silloin rauhoitutaan ja luetaan, hengitellään ja ollaan, mutta itse asiassa talvisin vasta kuhisee. Lähdimme itse tutustumaan yhteen VIKK-kohteeseen.

AARK, Archipelago Art Residence in Korpo is situated in the only block of flats on the island, red building by the ferry. Now three flats for residents to live & create.

We met Bryan Cheng from Australia who paints waves oft the Baltic sea with aquarell paints.

Important part of living here are the social relations. It is so fun meeting, discussing, having a cup of coffee together when ever there is opportunity to it! Here's Pellas Pappa Örjan and Benkku, who draws detailed pictures of boats, ferries, trucks...in deep discussion.

Maaliskuun ensimmäisenä lauantaina ja sunnuntaina on sitten meidänkin vuoro VIKKeillä!               Meillä maalataan silloin pääsiäismunia mehiläisvahatekniikalla, 
                                                     kahviakin saa ja juttuseuraa.
