It was worth saving the old boards from the house and set the panelling to our new-old sauna-laundry building. The old panelling from the main house is now - and by the marks in it already for the second time - re-cycled. It needed just to be planed to get the old paint away - we wanted to paint the new sauna-laundry building with the old-fashioned red ochre paint. The old panelling is wonderful material. They knew how to make wood last before.
Today we call it sustainable development, in the old days it was common knowledge. That the trees were fell when it was frost and winter-time after been grown decades. It was then let dry and sawed long so that the boards were narrow in the upper part. Some of the old boards are 40 cm wide and all way over 8 inch.
